Welcome to Košice – The Heart of Eastern Slovakia
We are delighted to host ISMEC2027 in Košice, a city where rich medieval history meets a vibrant, modern scientific community. As the second-largest city in Slovakia and a former European Capital of Culture (2013), Košice offers a unique atmosphere that is both welcoming and inspiring for international visitors.

Conference Venue
The conference venue will be Pavol Jozef Šafárik University (UPJŠ),
a prestigious institution that seamlessly combines historical academic traditions with state-of-the-art research facilities.
Participants will gather in the university’s beautifully renovated historic buildings, which offer a unique atmosphere for scientific exchange in the heart of the city. The university campus is equipped with modern audiovisual technology and versatile meeting spaces.

Conference dinner
We are excited to invite you to the conference gala evening at the iconic
Café & Restaurant Slávia.
Located in the heart of Košice, just steps from the State Theatre and St. Elizabeth’s Cathedral, Slávia has been a favourite meeting place for locals and visitors for over a century.
Set in a beautiful Art Nouveau building, the café charms guests with its high ceilings, crystal chandeliers and large windows overlooking the city’s lively main promenade.

Airport Transfer to the Venue
To travel from the airport to the Pavol Jozef Šafárik University, you can choose from several transport options:
Public Transport (MHD)
- Direct connection from the airport: Bus No. 23 departs from the stop directly in front of the arrival terminal.
- Route to the city center: Get off at the Krajský súd or Námestie osloboditeľov stop. Approx. 15–20 min. total.
- Transfer to UPJŠ: From the Krajský súd or Námestie osloboditeľov stop, you can reach the UPJŠ Rectorate campus on foot in about 5 to 10 minutes, walking towards the historic center (Šrobárova Street). From there, walk through the university campus to Kostlivého Street 1 to reach Lecture Hall P5 (Conference Desk).
- Tickets: A basic 30-minute ticket is sufficient for the journey from the airport. If you carry oversized luggage, an additional luggage ticket is required.
- Where to buy tickets: You can purchase tickets at the ticket machine directly at the airport bus stop (accepts coins and payment cards). You can also use an SMS ticket (available only for Slovak mobile operators) or tap your contactless card directly inside the vehicle.
- Timetables: Detailed departure times for Bus No. 23 can be found on the imhd.sk.
Taxi Services and Ride-Hailing
- Standard Taxi: Official airport taxis are available directly outside the arrival terminal. You can also use ride-hailing mobile apps such as Bolt to book a ride. Approx. 15–20 min., depending on traffic.
Car Rental / Driving
- Route: From the airport, take road E58 toward the city center, continue along Moldavská cesta, and turn toward Štúrova/Šrobárova Street. From there, proceed to Kostlivého Street 1 to reach Lecture Hall P5 (Conference Desk).

Train/Bus Transfer to the Venue
To travel from the main railway station or the adjacent central bus station:
- Direct connection from the station: Tram No. 2 directly from the Staničné námestie station.
- Route to the center: Get off at the Krajský súd or Námestie osloboditeľov stop. Approx. 5–8 min. total.
- Transfer to UPJŠ: From the Krajský súd or Námestie osloboditeľov stop, you can reach the UPJŠ Rectorate campus on foot in about 5 to 10 minutes, walking towards the historic center (Šrobárova Street). From there, walk through the university campus to Kostlivého Street 1 to reach Lecture Hall P5 (Conference Desk).
If you prefer a short scenic walk from the station area:
- The UPJŠ Rectorate is located roughly 1.5 km from the station. You can walk straight through the city park (Mestský park), continue along Mlynská Street, pass the St. Elizabeth’s Cathedral, and follow Alžbetina Street straight onto Šrobárova Street. The walk takes about 15–20 min.
